Shannon and I were both speakers at Fave Lifestyles Women’s Group event this summer. …As the Executive Director of Helping Hands Ministries International she was sharing that she’d just returned from a disaster relief trip in Peru. One of their goals was to provide potable water (and other supplies) and teach women how to make and sell quilts and do so as a sustainable business.
• Before Shannon spoke, she heard my message that night on “Fear to Freedom: Finding Your Voice by Connecting to Your Story”. I began my speech with the lyrics to “My Story” by Big Daddy Weave, as just last Fall I heard this song and it answered my “Why”…why I tell my story. I finally had words to articulate.
• For Shannon’s non-profit, the same song was chosen as their theme song for this year!!!
• I shared part of my story of adoption, healing and restoration that night. …Shannon was adopted too!
At the end of the event we stood in the parking lot for a good bit continuing to be in awe of all the similarities.
Shannon then generously gifted me a newly made quilt she’d just brought back from Peru to celebrate our new friendship – what an honor indeed!
When Shannon invited me to hold my “Fear to Freedom” workshop in her boardroom…I couldn’t believe it! It was the perfect – warm, safe, like-minded space for all the attendees to mine their heart and soul’s story and experience some more levels of healing for their journey. …THIS is exactly what Helping Hands Ministries does, so it was in perfect alignment!
When I went to see the space, what was supposed to be less than hour…turned into almost 3 hours and it flew by. We’ve stayed connected ever since.

How do you perceive the Divine working in your relationships?
PS: Since last year, I have known the season we are in is #ForSuchATimeAsThis. Shannon embraces and expresses that very same sentiment. …Our meeting was clearly not by accident! I’m waiting in eager anticipation to see what God is up to and how we might co-create together in the future.
PSS: Shannon, just dawned on me. I’ve created and led a community team to feed the homeless for the last 8- ish years, I call the event “Helping Hands”.
